Sailing with Holland Sail
We feel that, if you're going on a trip with us, you should know a bit about us. You'll learn to know the skipper on deck, but what about the organisation? What does it stand for? We'll try to explain.
Holland Sail was established in 2009 by over 20 owners of traditional sailing ships. These passionate sailors wanted to own their own company, rather than work for a commercial booking agency.
And so, the co-operation Holland Sail was established. Any form of co-operation should be based on shared values and/or common goals, and so it is for Holland Sail. We've tried to summarize these in the five characteristics below.
Passion
Our main common characteristic is, of course, a deeply rooted passion for sailing. What kind of sailing company would we be without that? We love to sail. We also cherish our beloved traditional ships, that have almost all sailed the Dutch waters in some capacity for over a century.
The skippers enjoy their work and to most of them, it's not just their job. It's their life.
A landsman's life is all his own. He can go or he can stay. But, when the sea is in your blood, when she calls, you must obey.
Expertise
Years of sailing taught our skippers what there is to know about the water, the wind, the tides and their guests. Experience and a solid knowledgebase are the foundation of expertise. This isn't any different for sailing, and we're proud to say our skippers know the ropes.
Thought is the wind and knowledge the sail.
Quality
Holland Sail values quality. Naturally, we're offering sound ships that are in an excellent state. We've invested in facilities and are offering a range of additional services to make your trip enjoyable and as care-free as possible. That way, you can relax and focus on experiencing the sun, wind and open waters of Holland.
Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books.
Hospitality
When we say 'welcome aboard', that's how we intend to make you feel. You are our guest on board. The crew works hard to ensure your sailing trip will be a fantastic experience. Fantastic, yes, not unique, for we've found that many of our guests want to come back and set sail again (and again).
A smile is the universal welcome
Co-operation
Holland Sail is built on the idea that working together is the way to bring our other core characteristics to life. With the combined strength of the ship owners, they founded Holland Sail as their own booking agency, so their own focus could be on their guests. The office staff are employees of the co-operation and we all work together to make sure the guests have the best possible experience when they're aboard one of Holland Sail's traditional sailing vessels.
